Pinot Noir `Roaring Meg` Mt Difficulty 2019 – Central Otago, Lightly Oaked, Vegan – RRP £19.95
The Roaring Meg is a classic example of Central Otago Pinot Noir. It exhibits a lovely mix of red and black berry fruits with further complexity gained from oak spice. The wine has a sweet berry palate which displays these same characters in abundance. Tannins rise gracefully out of the mid-palate to finish the wine; these are balanced by the wine’s natural acidity and fruit, to produce a long and fruit-driven finish. Serve with veal, duck, chicken, lamb or pork dishes.
Cherry Block Pinot Noir, Central Otago 13.5% ABV – RRP £19.99
Cherry Block will take you on a journey to a special part of New Zealand, the southernmost wine region in the world, Central Otago. The extreme continental climate of Central Otago is one of fiercely cold nights and long summer days. It is these intense conditions combined with the lush surrounding cherry orchards that serve to create the vivid, rich and spicy nature of Cherry Block Pinot Noir.
Sweetly lifted on the nose showing raspberry, strawberry, toasted almond, mushroom and spice aromas, followed by a juicy palate that is nicely rounded and smooth. The wine is fruit-expressive and elegantly styled, beautifully supported by polished tannins.
Pinot Noir `Family Vineyard` Wairau River 2019 – Marlborough, Lightly Oaked, Vegetarian – RRP £15.95
This Pinot Noir comes from low yielding vines to create wines with true intensity of flavour. It is then fermented and aged in oak for 9 months, creating a Pinot Noir to rival those from Burgundy. The wine shows aromas of cherry and wild berry fruits, shadowed by supple oak, whilst the palate is soft and generous, showing true varietal flavours.
Great with chicken liver parfait, sirloin steak or Morroccan lamb.
‘Selection S’ Sauvignon Blanc Schubert 2018 – Martinborough, Organic, Vegan – RRP £20.95
Located within the Wairarapa Valley of Martinborough, the region is cooler and drier than any other on the North Island, and like Marlborough across the Cook Strait, it is exposed to cold winds that funnel in from the southern ocean. The nose is bursting with aromas of fresh citrus and whie flowers. On the palate, this wine is zesty and lively with a crisp acidity and notes of citrus, elderflower and passionfruit.
Try with Pea risotto, seafood salad, pan fried scallops or lightly grilled salmon.
Havoc & Harmony Sauvignon Blanc 2020, Marlborough 750ml 12.5% ABV, RRP £11.95
A typically vibrant aroma of ripe gooseberries, herb and nettle aromas to accentuate the Marlborough calling card. The selection of parcel of fruit are blended to create an expressive dry white that exhibits tropical flavours of pineapple and lime yet retains a crisp citrus acidity to balance a richly textured palate.
Ward Valley ‘Olivia’ Pinot Noir Rose, Marlborough 750ml, 13%ABV, RRP £11.99
Fruit for this wine is selected the best rows of Pinot Noir on the Ward Valley Estate Coastal Block. The fruit was carefully harvested before being transferred to the winery to cold soaked on the skins for 4 hours. This ‘time on the skins’ gives the wine its salmon pink colour.
On the nose we have lifted aromas of strawberry and raspberry, along with hints of citrus and floral notes. The palate is dry and shows some complex flavours of raspberry, strawberry and melon. This makes for a dry style wine, brilliantly structured by crisp acidity, finishing long and mouth-watering.
